14. Panic! (Switch)

Panic! (originally known as Switch in Japan) is an unusual sort of game that never stops being strange. Set in a strange, seemingly post-apocalyptic word, you play a young man in red overalls who is sucked through his Sega CD. The gameplay of Panic! is staggeringly straightforward—you solve a series of puzzles using switches and buttons in small rooms. The catch is, you do not understand what the switch will do. In some cases, it will transport you to another room. However, others will put you through a surreal, thematic cut-scene subject that resets your decision in the room. Some switches are “booby traps” that set off bombs at famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty. Well, this game feels more or less random.
