Xybernaut Poma

Xybernaut’s Poma looks like something out of Star Trek, which is the best thing we can say about this device. We admire Xybernaut for trying to blaze a trail with the Poma—it was released in 2002, before the phrase ‘wearable technology’ was even conceived—but the harsh truth of the matter is that it was simply too heavy and clumsy to be efficient and portable. With a price tag of $1,499, only the most enthusiastic early adopters would have viewed this device as a worthwhile purchase.
