Fitbit is now the leading name in wearable fitness trackers, but they have a few flops under their belt. Upon the release of Fitbit Force in early 2014, thousands of customers reported experiencing skin rashes around the area where their Force would sit. Fitbit recalled over 1 million units that had already been sold. An otherwise brilliant product was left tarnished by this significant issue, but it highlights an ongoing issue in wearable technology: anything that we’re supposed to wear on our skin needs to be especially comfortable and safe.
